High Monthly Premium Cost

From – AMAC Member David L.

My wife is a diabetic and was unable to purchase insurance under the old system. Well, I thought, now under Obamacare, she can’t be turned down based on a preexisting condition.
Well, we were in for a rude awakening! The best policy we found had a $5,000 deductible, which we would probably never reach, so it was like not having insurance. The amounts it would pay after that were so small that we’d still be stuck with the bulk of the medical expenses. And the monthly premium for this was $922! I made one premium payment. I could never afford another. And, Mr. President, don’t tell me to cancel the cable bill. I don’t watch television and we don’t have cable. I am self employed and we are living paycheck to paycheck, yet we don’t qualify for any of these touted subsidies! So my wife is still uninsured (I at least have Medicare).
